NewTek Elevates Pat Grogan to Senior Vice President of Operations

Previously, Grogan was the vice president of Operations at NewTek. In his new role, Grogan will focus on corporate facilities and manufacturing processes to meet ever-increasing product demands.

“Pat has overseen the day-to-day operations of this company for almost 15 years,” said NewTek CFO, Steve Doubleday. “He has been a key member of management since the company’s relocation to San Antonio in 1997, when he came aboard as director of education and training. His experience in video production, management and operations sets him apart as a leader in this organization. We look forward to his continued service in this new role.”

NewTek Introduces Third-Party Video Developer Program at NAB 2011

LAS VEGAS – NAB Show – April 5, 2011 – NewTek, worldwide leader in video and 3D animation products, today announced the debut of their Video SDK (Software Development Kit) Program, designed to provide support and access to a series of NewTek SDKs. Third-party developers will now be able to tap into the power of proprietary NewTek iVGA(tm), LiveSet(tm) and DataLink(tm) technologies. Alcorn McBride Inc. introduces new features for the SetPlayer line at NAB 2011

SetPlayerAlcorn McBride (Booth SL5105) will introduce an enhanced feature set to the SetPlayer video playback line at the NAB Show in Las Vegas.

The SetPlayer(tm) series is designed for on-set video applications, providing a low cost, solid-state alternative to server channels. The single channel SetPlayer (SP1000) has a 40 Mbps maximum bitrate and works with existing VDCP controllers. New to the line is MediaFlow; a compatible encoding software which delivers a complete workflow solution. This software provides a step-by-step method for encoding any source file to transfer it to the SetPlayer unit.

All single and multi-channel SetPlayers can be controlled by existing transport controllers via VDCP or Ethernet and have a Genlock input. grandMA2 light Turns in Winning Performance at Academy Awards Telecast

Oscar Statuette Copyright AMPASgrandMA may not have made it onstage at the recent Academy Awards telecast, but it was grandMA’s night to shine, nonetheless. Jason Rudolph selected a grandMA2 light console to play the crucial role of controlling 34 Hippotizer servers, which fed multiple onstage screens via 70 video projectors. A.C.T Lighting is the exclusive distributor of grandMA in North America.

“It was an enormous undertaking, to say the least,” reports Rudolph. “I regularly program multiple media servers with grandMA2 – it’s my main console – but I hadn’t done anything of this size: The entire set at the Oscars was projection. We had 34 Hippotizer HD units outputting 53 discrete active outputs and some spares with control from the grandMA2 light console. Christie Spyder X20 Brings Sun and Surf To Fifth Avenue Shoppers At New Hollister Store

Hollister“Surf’s up!” is not what you expect to hear on New York City’s Fifth Avenue, but the recently-opened midtown Manhattan Hollister store features a live video feed of surfers in Huntington Beach, California with the help of two Christie Spyder X20-0808 video processors and a Christie URS universal routing switcher. Hollister, the Southern California teen-inspired lifestyle brand from Abercrombie & Fitch, launched its second Manhattan store with its double-height glass storefront highlighting a surf motif. The company erected a giant wall consisting of 169 46-inch LCD displays stretching across the façade and over the front door.

“The monitors are mounted in portrait mode with virtually no mullions (vertical columns between the monitors) and offer a total pixel count of 7290 x 3360,” said Jeff Anderson of G-Force Engineering LLC, project integrator. “Two HD cameras in Huntington Beach feed live content to the (more…)

High Resolution Systems Introduces UDC-Touch for Touchscreen Device Control at NAB 2011

UDC TouchHigh Resolution Systems LLC will be showcasing its new line of UDC-Touch touchscreens in the lower South Hall at NAB 2011 (Booth SL5622). The company will be sharing the booth with PI Engineering.

UDC-Touch is a Windows-Embedded based touchscreen solution for device control. At the heart of the system is High Resolution’s UDC (Universal Device Control) software, which communicates with the devices to be controlled; multiple 7 or 10-inch touchscreen interfaces can be located in different areas and access the centralized UDC system.

“UDC-Touch uses our web server feature, but we’ve developed a special app that enables the touchscreens to be faster and more economical than a web browser,” says sales engineer Drew Taylor, “Another great thing about our embedded touchscreens is that there is no moving parts to them”. NewTek Promotes Chuck Silber to Chief Operating Officer

Previously, Silber was the senior vice president of Sales at NewTek. In his new role, Silber will oversee all customer contact departments including Sales, Marketing, Strategic Development, Content Development, and Customer and Support Services.

“NewTek has seen significant growth and profitability over the last three years under Chuck’s management of the Sales Department and Channel Partners,” said NewTek President and CEO, Jim Plant. “He has more than proven his management expertise and commitment to customer satisfaction, and we look forward to his contributions in his new role.”

Electrosonic Expands AV Systems and Video Conferencing Business with Acquisition of New York-Based Excel Media Systems

VSN to unveil important new features in its broadcast architecture at NAB 2011
